Nole |
The last 18 months were simply fantastic for the world no. 1 Novak Djokovic, both professionally and personally. There was his wedding in July 2014 and the birth of his child Stefan, in October the same year.
'I tried to find new motivations, new ways to be inspired' - Nole said on his role as a father and husband - You can be world no. 1 but life goes on. You've to believe and dream but you've also to understand that life isn't only about tennis. I try to use my strengts that I have on the tennis court, in business. I like to be creative, visualize what can happen. It's about deciding what you want, what makes you happy. My family means the world to me, it's a new meaning of love and it makes me a better player.'
This year Djokovic won the Australian Open against Andy Murray, then beat Federer in three sets to win Indian Wells. He then won the title in Miami. In April, Djokovic clinched his second Monte-Carlo Masters by beating Tomas Berdych in the final, then won the Rome Masters for the fourth time. He continued his good form on clay at the French Open, by reaching the final without dropping a set in the first five rounds, including a quarter-final clash against Rafael Nadal. He then had a five set semi-final victory over third seed Murray which took two days to complete because of rain delay. However, he lost the final to the eighth seeded Stan Wawrinka in four sets, after having prevailed in the first set and being up a break in the fourth set. He then won Wimbledon, US Open, Beijing, Shanghai, Bercy and the ATP Finals.
